Gallopers Sports Club sits on Lancaster Road in Ascot, a short walk from Doomben and Eagle Farm. It is the local for a meal, a function, a bit of gaming, and a catch-up after the races. The public site already did that job. The problem was behind the scenes.
The team needed the site off HubSpot and onto WordPress, so it could be looked after the same way as their other sites. Customers should not have to learn a new website. The staff should not have to learn a second system.
We set up a new WordPress install on web hosting and cloned the site across. The aim was simple: keep what people already recognised, and give the team a familiar place to update it.
Same club, new home
Most of the move was careful matching. Menus, opening hours, the bistro and bar, functions, what’s on, membership, and the links out to The Gibson, Souths and Brisbane Racing Club. Someone landing on the new site should feel like they are in the same club, not a redesign they did not ask for.
The fiddly bits
A few sections were less straightforward. The venues switcher, the nested menus, and the pieces that had been built as HubSpot modules did not drop neatly into WordPress. We worked through those one by one and found a way to rebuild each of them so the page still behaved, and the team could edit it without a developer on the phone.
What they have now is a site customers will find familiar, running on WordPress, on hosting the team can manage alongside the rest of their work. Same club. Easier to look after.
