Build in Brisbane is a directory of licensed trades across greater Brisbane. You search by trade and zone, pick one business, and your enquiry goes to them only. It is advertising, not brokerage. Featured listings are paid and labelled. There are no rankings and no top 10.
The site covers twelve zones from Moreton Bay to Ipswich. Roofing, electrical, plumbing, drafting, certifiers, concreting and the rest sit behind a search that shows a QBCC number on licensed listings. Guides sit alongside: character overlays, flood and overland flow, what a certifier does, asbestos on older homes.
A network that started in a cafe
The idea is older than this build. In 2013 a small group of Brisbane building professionals started meeting at a local cafe. Architects, builders, town planners, engineers, trades and interior designers. Monthly catch-ups, referrals, the odd guest speaker on websites and social. From that group came a site to promote the network. The meetings went quiet after a few years. The point of them did not: local businesses are stronger when they are connected, and people planning a job need a simpler way to find the right help.
That is the job of this version. For businesses, a place to be found. For homeowners, a way to look across Brisbane without a list being sold on. We built the directory, the zones, the enquiry path and the guides so Building in Brisbane has a public home again.
