A client wanted their own NRL fantasy game. They already knew SuperCoach, and they wanted that kind of league for a private group, with scoring they could trust and an admin screen that did not mean typing numbers in by hand.
SuperNRL is that league. It works the way SuperCoach fans would expect. Each coach picks a squad of 19, and their best 17 count each week. They name a captain and vice-captain, and each player locks when his own game kicks off, so the team can still be changed right up until the weekend. Every coach picks from the same player pool, and some players can be picked in more than one position.
Scores without the spreadsheet
The scoring was the interesting part to build. After each round, a server pulls in the official NRL.com match stats. The site turns those stats into SuperCoach-style points, works out each coach’s best 17 and updates the ladder. From the admin screen, a round can be fetched, checked and published in a few clicks. Nobody has to key in the numbers.
It is custom-coded in PHP and MySQL and runs on ordinary web hosting. Updates go from GitHub straight to the live site. Along the way we sorted the small things that make it feel finished. Players on a bye show greyed out, you can scroll back through the ladder week by week, and logins last three months, so nobody gets kicked out mid-round.
The client is testing it with a small group of coaches through the 2026 finals. A full launch is planned for the 2027 season.
If you have an idea like this, a tipping comp, a club tool, or something only your group would use, we can build it. Get in touch.
